Construction of references to officers, &c.

Establishment of Provident Fund,
141.- (1) The provisions of sub-sections (1), (2)
and (3) of section 25 and of section 48 of the Interpretation
Ordinance, 1911, shall apply to persons holding or appointed
to act in or perform the duties of any office under the
Council in like manner as they apply to persons holding or
appointed to act in or perform the duties of any office under
the Government.
(2) The definition of "Public officer" or "Public
servant" contained in section 39 of the Interpretation
Ordinance, 1911, under the heading "B. - Colonial definitions"
is amended
(a) by the insertion, after the word "Colony" in the
fifth line thereof, of the words "or of the Hong
Kong Amicipal Council"; and
(b) by the substitution of the words "Hong Kong
Mánicipal Council" for the words "Urban Council"
in the sixth line thereof.
142.- (1) The Council shall provide for the
establishment, management and regulation of a Provident Fund
for the benefit of officers and employees of the Council and
the benefits of any such Fund may be extended to the
dependants of officers and employees.
(2) Subject to the provisions of this Ordinance or
any other enactment, the Council may require any officer or
employee of the Council to contribute to any Provident Fund
so established as aforesaid.
